this is like a female 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'

This movie has several parallels to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), except that the protagonist is a woman, but has enough -- abundant -- differences to make it original and unique and extremely enjoyable on its own. Loretta Young and Joseph Cotten light up the screen. And the politics and social commentary are quite intriguing.

Recommended viewing if you haven't seen it, and love meaningful classic movies that very are entertaining as well.
