Another masterpiece

Add this to your want list if you haven't seen it, (and how many people have?) There are FOUR great Ophuls films from his American period: "The Exile", "Letter from an Unknown Woman", "Caught", and "The Reckless Moment".

I had not seen The Reckless Moment or The Exile, but thanks to TCM, I have now seen them both. I have saved them on DVR so I can watch again. I knew about The Reckless Moment, but knew nothing about The Exile. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it's the story of King Charles II in exile in the Netherlands just before he is called back to England and the throne. The film itself is exquisite and Douglas Fairbanks, jr is captivating as the merry monarch. I also enjoyed seeing The Reckless Moment, a totally different kind of movie. Bravo to TCM for giving us the chance to see these films of Max Ophuls in Hollywood. I had already seen Letter from an Unknown Woman and own it on VHS -- it's always on my list of favorite films.
