Looking to see the film?

I know of three ways to currently see this film:

1) Search Google Video for Hans Richter (and this along with many of his short films will show up) or for the title and you will find a free full length version. BE WARNED: It is not a good copy and the sound is roughly 7 to 10 seconds behind (I promise, this is not some intended Dada/Surrealist joke, I've seen it on film).

2) If you live close enough to New Jersey, the film will be shown from a 16mm print, with all its gorgeous color and sound, by the NJ Film Co-op on Thursday Sept 21st in New Brunswick, NJ (his short films will be shown the previous Thursday). For more information go to www.njfilmfest.com .

3) If you're from Europe or have a region 2 or region free player, the film is now in print on a region 2 dvd. Here's a link to one of the many places where it can be purchased http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000FVX6QY/026-0989258-9312451?v=glance&n=283926&s=gateway&v=glance

Good luck to everyone in seeing this wonderful film.

The film was also shown theatrically in Berlin (Germany) yesterday (24.09.2006).
Picture and sound quality weren't excellent and I believe some frames were missing. (I don't know if the UK-DVD-version has had some restoration)
I still consider myself lucky to ha´ve seen this in cinema.

I have to agree with doctorface, that everyone should try to get to see a copy of this film!

I just saw it today. Boston University has a copy on 16mm, but I don't know how anyone would go about seeing it unless they were a BU student. The first reel of the film is however a little messed up, while the second one is in ok condition.

There is also a copy floating around on eMule as of 8 Dec. 2007. The picture quality is mediocre but the audio is in synch, as distinguished from the copy on Google Video, which according to 'doctorface' is not in synch.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York City has a copy of this film.

Rutgers: New Brunswick also shows it every year. (Point of interest.)

Life is absurd.

Just saw this today. I attend Rutgers in New Brunswick, and my professor runs the NJ Film Festival so we watched it for class. I never would have guessed a movie could be so rare to find. I feel really lucky.

The thing's hollow-it goes on forever-and-oh my God-it's full of stars!

Alpha Video is releasing this in the US on Oct 28:

As with most of their titles, don't expect any restoration or major high-quality picture. I expect adequate viewing, nothing more. But for five bucks or so, it's a way for people stateside to own a copy, if they wish.
