Film Noir??? My ass!!! Boring soap opera. Almost as bad as this last year of "24" and "House"!
Fortunately, this did not turn out to be Lancaster's first film (as had been originally planned) had it been, it might have signaled the end of his career.
Nah, you got it all wrong. This is a very good film. A film that introduced me over a decade ago to all three talents: Lancaster, Scott and Corey. I was already familiar with John Hodiak and Mary Astor.
I think AMC was the last cable network to air it back in the mid 90s. There was just something very special about it with a sense of mystery to it with a couple of the characters.
You are absolutely right about the cast, they are all wonderfully talented; however, you have missed the point, which is the dreadful waste of these great actors--it is the silly, meaningless, embarrassingly melodramatic plot that stinks.
I have found most cult films to be bizarre and silly, at best--boring and, actually, unwatchable, at worst.
If you can offer one good reason why I might want to wast any part of my precious time, watching "Plan Nine From Outer Space" or "Eraserhead", more than once, I would be happy to relent.
I don't recommend either of those movies. I can't imagine that you saw either of them (which I haven't) not knowing their reputation. Why did you waste your precious time watching them for the first time? And why are you compelled to waste your precious time posting on "Desert Fury"? A compulsive need to troll? After all, you hardly ever post, and after an absence of a month, you go straight to "Desert Fury". I think the problem is yours, so why waste our precious time?
"Don't worry. I'm not on the side of the saints yet."
