Favorite Pairing of Bogey + Bacall

I love this movie. It plays in a very dream-like way.

Bacall has more to do than in her other movies with Bogie.

All the supporting actors play their parts very well and probably did their best work here. The weasel that first picks up Alan Linell and later tries to extort money from him. Linell's trumpet playing friend. The cab driver. The creepy doctor that makes Alan Linell into a dead ringer for Humphrey Bogart. Even the nosy police detective in the diner that gets suspicious about Linell.

And of course, Agnes Morehead who manages to be somewhat sexy, annoying and sly at the same time.

It's my favorite pairing, too.

Know exactly what you mean about it's dream-like quality. I have problems with insomnia, and I often play this to lull me to sleep. ("Laura" is another favorite for the same reason.)

You're right that she is more part of the plot here than any other, and that's great because who doesn't want more Bacall.

The Big Sleep is a better movie for me overall, but as far as their pairing I think this one ties with To Have and Have Not.
