Agnes Moorehead as a flirt? What about Bogie's Voice?

Can't see her in the part of Madge. She just happens to be a friend of Irene's? Irene never mentioned that to Vincent when she was explaining why she was so interested in his trial. If you had a friend who was a star witness in his murder case, wouldn't you mention it?

Also, he didn't change his VERY distinctive voice so why wouldn't Madge immediately recognize Vincent's voice?

Still, I love the movie for its atmosphere, the teaming of Bogie and Betty (as she was to her friends). And the end was memorable.

This positively infantile preoccupation with bosoms!Terry-Thomas about US 1963.Hasnt changed much!

For me, somehow, it worked.

I believe that Madge and Irene met at the trial. I got the impression that Irene did not like Madge, but she was a pest that would not go away.

As for why Madge didn’t recognize Vincent’s voice, we actually have to really suspend disbelief to accept the transformation from his picture in the newspaper to that of Bogart. No plastic surgeon could do that in ninety minutes, if at all.

In reference to whether Agnes Moorehead was a believable flirt, see the thread titled "did anyone else think Agnes Moorhead was kind of hot". Not only will it answer this burning question, but it will unfortunately illustrate what depraved creatures most of us men are, oh!

Agnes Moorehead could look seductive at times. She could play a dowdy housekeeper the same year as she played a glamorous grandmother witch.
