The "Before" Picture Of Vincent Parry

Is that of Warner's character actor Frank Wilcox. Wilcox worked with Bogie in several films, and Bogie probably suggested that his picture be used. In ever other respect, they didn't resemble each other. For one thing, Wilcox was 6'3", and his hair was his own.

I know it says that in the trivia section but I have a vague recollection of Robert Osborne saying in an introduction for this film that the photo was of Delmar Daves, the director of the movie. Did I just dream this up? I must have.

I think Delmare Daves was the first picture in the paper, the man who died in jail.

It did not look like Frank Wilcox to me. I am very familar with Wilcox, being a fan of the old Perry Mason TV show on which he frequently appeared as a judge. Not to mention, he was a supporting player in many Warner movies of the '40's. The face in the picture seemed to me to be a composite with Bogart's eyes, and the lower half of the face that of character actor Douglas Kennedy, who played the cop that nearly arrested Boggie in the diner. I need to get the dvd out again and freeze frame before going to war over this issue.
