What was playing in 1947?

The Greenwich theater was known as a re-issue movie house. Thus, both movies on the marquee are of films released earlier in the 1940's decade. MR. LUCKY and
THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW.

I'm listening to the commentary, and the other movie was actually THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, directed by Fritz Lang and starring Edward G. Robinson (great movie if you've never seen it). But it still doesn't work because TWITW was actually released about 3 years prior to DAISY KENYON. Not sure why Preminger used TWITW on the marquee, but it was a nice prop from one fine director to another!

Remember, in 1947 there was no television...no "old" movies to watch. There were lots of movie houses, well into the fifties that showed "brought back by popular demand" films. These might be as old as a last year hit, or one from fifteen years before. At the time, first run films had a shorter span in the major theaters...to make way for the next ones coming up. Then the first run film was sent to the second run theaters...then the third run, and so on. After their run was over, one had to wait from them to be "brought back".
It's perfectly reasonable for the Greenwich to be showing films from three years before...probably to eager attendance.

I frequented the Greenwich back in the 60s when it was more of an art house. So it was a thrill to see it in the film. What I found interesting with the double feature was that they were both RKO films, not FOX.

Most likely the movies featured on the marquee were out of date because we were seeing file footage backprojection in the window Fonda was looking out. The filming location section shows that they went on location to Cape Cod, but all else was filmed at the 20th Century Fox studio in Los Angeles.
