the rest of the story (in my best Paul Harvey imitation). The term "boycott" was coined after the name of a miserly English landlord's agent in Ireland who tried to collect oppressive rent from farmers. Here are two sights with some relevant information.

The landowners agent with as Irish as the rebels. He was no miser, he had a job to do. Nor was the landlord English, but Irish. It is typical of apologists for the rebels to resort to racist arguments for revolution.
