What do you think of 'Buck Privates Come Home' (1947)?

I either haven't seen the first movie (Buck Privates (1941)), or I saw it so long ago that I don't remember it.

This movie is very funny. But we get the usual problems with A&C flicks: a weak plot and a dull climax. At least there are hardly any musical numbers.

What do you think of this film?

I love this movie, and think that it's one of A & C's best.

I definitely don't see the problems that you are, with the plot and climax.

I think this is a very cute film despite the flimsy plot. Beverly Simmons is adorable in this film as Evie, and displays extremely good comic timing. The scene where she escapes from the police riding on Lou's shoulders pretending to be an adult is hilarious.

Plot in a classic comedy like this was not really required. Like the Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, and the Three Stooges, A&C do not need a plot to be great, all that was needed was some premise to let the boys go through their shtick.

I feel the need to go watch some of these great comedians.

I had a lot of fun with this one. Abbott and Costello are great (as usual) and little Beverly Simmons is adorable and sweet, adding a lot of charm and heart to the film. There are some great scenes, including a wonderful chase at the end, and some really funny, clever jokes. Recommended for fans of classic comedy. My rating is 8/10.
