One of the best British films ever

I never get tired of repeated viewings of this film. It's a true great.
Dickie is incredible in it, such a force of nature, it really marked him out as the talent he was and would become.
It's such a brutal film for it's time too. It handled themes that were daring for it's day and was very dark.
It's a great piece of cinema.

R.I.P Michael Jackson, your star will keep on shining

Sorry but I wasn't overly impressed with it. I also preferred Attenborough in 10 Rillington Place.

I liked him best in "Bowling Leagues Over Marblhead".

Yes, that is a much better film indeed.

Quite frankly I thought this one was almost laughable, a young psychopath driven to despair, not by the coppers or his adversaries, but by a blonde chorus line tart.

That late 40s period seems to be one of British cinema’s few golden ages; Great Expectations, Third Man, Matter of Life and Death, lavender Hill Mob. Sheer Bliss.

Wish the ending was like the book though - 7.5
