Even a few minutes in, I absolutely marvel at how beautiful James Wong Howe's cinematography is! To me, he is easily the best-ever black-and-white cinematographer.

I'm aware of how respected his work is. I probably have about twenty of the films he photographed in my collection.
shareI kept thinking the same thing while watching. Amazing compositions, framing, editing...everything. I always heard the name Howe touted as one of the greats, and I guess I never really thought about it till now. This film has got to be a big reason for his fame.
