Never Realized How Beautiful Deborah Kerr Was Until I Saw This Movie

Between the stylists in Hollywood and the fuzzy technicolor techniques used by cinematographers at the time, Deborah Kerr always looked so ordinary (to me at least). But when I saw this movie for the first time and saw how flawless her skin was and how strikingly blue her eyes were, I was amazed at her real beauty. And this is in spite of her wimple, ha ha!

Seriously, the cinematography for this film was fantastic, everything came out so pristine.

Maybe that's why they gave Jack Cardiff an Oscar for it?

Did not know he won an Oscar. Well he certainly deserved it.

Alfred Junge won one for the Art Direction as well.

Jack really should have won another one for The Red Shoes the next year but he wasn't even nominated for what is often agreed to be one of the most beautifully photographed films ever made. The rumour is that the American cinematographers knew that if he was nominated again then he would probably win again and they didn't like the idea of a foreigner winning the top award two years running.

So instead they nominated The Three Musketeers, The Loves of Carmen, Green Grass of Wyoming and Joan of Arc (the eventual winner). How many of those are known for their amazing cinematography like The Red Shoes is?

Her beauty is so underrated. I think she was her prettiest in The Innocents.

i think Colonel Blimp especially in the WW2 part, blooming geogerous.

this was also the first time i noticed her beauty despite seeing several of her movies before

I absolutely love the Nun costume, it leaves only her face exposed, and really accentuates just how pretty Deborah Kerr is. I just love this movie, all around, I think the sets, the dialogue and the costumes are mesmerizing.
