The bishop's house

Did anyone notice the Bishop's amazing house? (I usually just notice Cary and nothing else when he's on the screen- but the house did get my attention.) My mother-in-law thought it was a set. My sister-in-law thought it was an early Frank Lloyd Wright house. Does anyone know anything about the house or where this house is located?

I don't know that the house actually exists. To the best of my knowledge, the house was built as a set. I just finished reading David Niven's book Bring on the Empty Horses in which he mentions that Samuel Goldwyn was unhappy with the original set built as the bishop's house because it was not ecclesiastical enough and ordered it to be rebuilt. If there were any exterior shots of the house, I don't recall them, but I certainly may have missed them. I agree that it's a very beautiful house, though! Goldwyn must've known what he was doing! Haha.

Although Mr. Wright's early work was not anything like his later prarie style; he never did anything that resembled the bishop's manse.

It is probably a set, but that is a beautiful set, esp. the carpentry. No, it is nothing like a Frank Lloyd Wright design for the late 40s. It is more in keeping with the craftsman bungalow interior with the built ins and paneling. The style was very standard for Southern California since the turn of the century esp. in Pasadena and Los Feliz areas.

It was not like the Craftsman style at all. It was a late Victorian rectory.
