THE OBLIGATORY LOVE STORY...

The love story, or rather the continuous bickering and battling, ruined the second viewing of this movie (50+ years after the first) for me. And the marital discord went on far too long. It was contrived and overdone. I found the rest of the movie just as interesting as I did years ago. What an incredible story. And the scientific advances made in just a few years are mind-boggling.

Eh? What marital discord are you writing about? I watched this movie last night. The newly wed Cochrans weren't even together enough to have an argument though they did manage to conceive an offspring. Though she didn't understand her husband's work, Anne was portrayed as very supportive of Matt's work. Maybe you are thinking of the similar movie "Above and Beyond?"
