'Myrnas's Hairdo'

The permanent wave hairdo was so pretty. With the waves on the end and slicked down in the center. After the '50's this hairdo vanished.

My aunt had natural curly hair.
She essentially wore some variation of this hairdo for the rest of her life. I didn't know anyone else with that hair cut and do, but she cut her own hair and it did a perfect variant of Myrna Loy's hairdo from this movie. It always looked good. I think this is the first time I ever saw someone else with this particular hair do.
My grandmother was stuck on a Mary Astor cut and hair do from the 40's. I have never been stuck on any particular cut or hairdo....it wasn't hereditary :)

The hair was styled that way, only at the ends, to accommodate the hats the ladies wore. The middle was left flat so it would look the same or it could be smoothed over when the hat was removed. Hairstyles change over time along with fashions.

One of the least attractive hairdos in all of history. Mercifully gone after the 1950s.
