TCM is getting repetative

Showing this movie (and this isn't the only one that I've noticed, either) again in the span of a week.

And they showed it again last night as part of a Shirley Temple tribute.

Sometimes, when a single movie fits more than one night's theme it's OK, sometimes watching the movie from a different angle (paying attention more to one of the actor's performances or the director or cinematographer's work) but I agree, many times it is simply annoying -- and disappointing.

Tsk, tsk, shame on you! First you hit the nail on the head and give the answer I think is the right one then you have to go and agree with the OP's silly complaint; for shame. I watch a lot of movies on TCM and sometimes notice repeats but I don’t mind; even when they’re within a relatively short time frame.

As you said, the movie may be played as part of different artist tributes or different during different theme. This movie, along with many others, happens to fall into many categories. There are several well-known actors in it and it's a very good movie.

It may come as a big surprise but there are still plenty of people out there who have yet to discover even the best of the old movies. Running them often assures more of those people will get a chance to find a wide range of movies. Again, using this movie as an example, a Shirley Temple fan may discover it during her tribute then discover other actors they may not yet be fans of. During a Myrna Loy or Cary Grant tribute they may see it on the schedule again and it may prompt them to take notice of and watch their other movies. That’s how I tend to find gems so I hope they’ll continue to do what they’ve always done.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
