Society of Friends

Any members of the Society of Friends on these message boards? I'm not a member, but I do admire the history, beliefs, and culture of the Quakers (my ancestors came to America on the 2nd voyage of William Penn). Just wanted to ask.

I'm going to guess that most active, practicing Friends aren't very interested in IMDb in general and discussions of John Wayne Westerns in particular. An interesting group, well-portrayed in this film IMO, and if everyone practiced their beliefs and lifestyle the world would arguably be a far better place, but as long as there is at least one non-practitioner of pacifism, they will always need those of us who admire them in many ways and respect their rights, but refuse to join them, to protect them.

I am not a Quaker, but my son has been a student during his middle school years at a local Friends school. His school incorporates Quaker values and alternative teaching methods. I have learned so much from these genuinely peace and earth loving people. They are very respectful and open minded about other religions, cultures, etc. The Quakers remind me of Buddhists.
I found this movie by accident this morning and was pleasantly surprised. It's a gem of a movie.

There were Quakers who attended my high school (Lehigh Valley, Pa area). Couldn't find nicer people....they used to help me with my homework, or anything else I needed help with....

Great new look for John Wayne!!!!....pilgrim....

Very trivial comment to xylonian-1, but I'm hoping xy knows your signature line was never part of The Court Jester:

"The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true. "
