Fanny Brice walks off with the movie

A controversial choice as many aspects of her comedy and schtick has badly dated. She is over-the-top and cornball but don't ask me why it just seems to work. She's very frenetic and borderline hysterical as a Jewish housewife trying desperately to salvage a winning lottery ticket her husband gave to the landlord. The rest of the film doesn't really rate a mention though there are interesting parts. Spotty at best but Brice walks off with it.

I'm not sure she walks off with the movie, but I agree with you, she's wonderful. I've always enjoyed watching her. She has such a great presence and knows how to work with what she's got to the absolute max.

Her final line to the camera is classic. "Monty was rught. Honesty is the best policy."
