They call it an "Isotta", an Italian car.
I don't think I want to go to the pictures. Oh?Why not? I've seen everthing worth seeing.
I thought, it was "Isetta", but as I just looked up this was a little car by BMW what means a German car quite unlike the car in the film. Furthermore, English is not my maternal language, so I don't understand every little word in those American movies and can't guarantee for having perceived the pronunciation in the right way. I'm also in no way a car specialist, but I didn't find a car called "Isotta" in the web. Perhaps, they didn't want to use a real name of a car and altered "Isetta" to "Isotta" and said it was from Italy. I'm going to ask my brother who is quite versed in cars - even old ones.
shareIt was made by Isotta-Fraschini...here is a reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotta-Fraschini

Thank you! So, this is clear now. I only wonder why I didn't find it in Wikipedia as it is obviously there.
Now, I checked this again and found it myself. Don't know what was wrong before. Was a bit hasty, maybe.
;-))
The Isotto Franchese (I think) is the same make of limousine that is driven by Max von Mayerling and owned by Norma Desmond in SUNSET BOULEVARD.
shareThere is also one, I believe, in the 1944's Murder, My Sweet (adapted from Marlowe's Farwell My Lovely) by Raymond Chandler starring William Powell.
I recognized the sunburst grill work. Great movie in its own right.
Found a few images of the car —
