Anyone else think there is a resemblance between the two actresses. I wonder if it was an intentional ploy of the director's.
Ava Gardner was a true beauty and she oozes class even though she came from a very humble background. So many classy actresses around during the 30's,40's and 50's, unlike today's crop. Can't think of any classy female stars today.

Yeah, I noticed that too. When I first saw Fran's picture in Rafts room, it looked identical to Gardner.

Yes. Ken probably picked Fran for that reason. To remind him of "the one that got away." Soon as Mary returned though, 2nd place wasn't good enough. Poor Fran!

As to today's classy actresses, how 'bout Scarlett Johansson and Kirsten Dunst?
