If you can suspend.....

If you can suspend your disbelief at the incredible series of coincidences, then this is truly a great film.

Sorry, but I can't. The plot is simply too incredible. Tried watching on TCM, but finally gave up an hour in. The story's just silly.

Would it help if he returned an amputee with a severely burned face? Sometimes the story is about the acting and not the special effects... try going to a play on stage sometime.

I have to say that suspending disbelief was a challenge for me, but I enjoyed this film for its sentiment and strong performances. 7/10 stars from me.

I couldn't suspend my disbelief: a formerly married couple not recognising one another?
Nope -incredible to me.

Watching right now. Finding it hard to suspend disbelief. For Claudette to have loved Orson as deeply as she susposedly did, there is NO way she would not recognize him. He has a quite distinct look and but for age looked basically the same after 20 yrs.

I will entertain suspending my disbelief for the sake of this impressive and moving film; but it makes it somewhat difficult when she pauses coming down the staircase like she totally recognized him, in the scene when Kessler comes to their house for the first time! They stand there looking at each other and not saying a word. That infers to me that she knew immediately that it was him!

"OOhhhooo....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"
