Will be Shown on Svengoolie on 19 March 2016

The Time of Their Lives (1946) will be shown on Svengoolie on MeTV on Saturday, 19 March 2016, at 9PM Central Time. 

It has been a long time since I have seen this one, and I don't remember Sven ever showing it before this. 

I recall it being a very funny and entertaining movie with a real good script. It's not a typical Abbott/Costello movie, though. There is no comic/slapstick interaction between Bud and Lou. Their characters don't interact much and they aren't in many scenes together.

Also, this is the movie where, three weeks into filming, Lou Costello suddenly decided that he wanted to switch roles with Bud Abbott. When the director explained that wasn't possible, he stormed off the set and they had to shoot around him until he finally returned two weeks later. 

Anyway, this should be a good movie to grab some  and watch on a Saturday night. 

I haven't seen this in a long, long time. If Sven showed it, I don't remember it.

I hope everyone enjoys the show.

I'm a big Sven fan too. Like jamesbwill and djmaraio, I knew ahead of time it was going to be on. I recorded it. Even with all the inserted Svengoolie bits, it was fun to watch. Sven always includes great film history, behind-the-scenes information, and explanations of inside jokes that made it onto film.

It was also a great "window" into 1946. The clothes, the cars, the hair styles, etc. Anyone notice how much Bud Abbott smoked on-screen? I know it was part of his character, just odd to see nowadays.
