Frank Sinatra singing Old Man River????/

Is this the biggest miscast of all time? Were was Paul Robson???? Or, any other black baratone? I hope I spelled that correctly. What does an Itailan American from Hobokan know about the South, and working on the river and the hard work, and the long hours, and the pain, and the heat and the sweat. No, he just sang for his supper. And, he was a draft dodger. Total miscasting.

I thought Sinatra's performance of 'Ol Man River' at the end of the film was excellent, especially with the MGM Studio Orchestra behind him. He sang it with emotion and sincerity...and his interpretation was 'spot on'!!

guess you need to actually watch the film, rather than just make a comment on it... Caleb Peterson sings "Old Man River" in the Show Boat section - a black baritone, by the way.
Frank only reprises part of it at the end of the film where they show current MGM stars singing bits of the songs you have heard in the film...I actually like his version, he had a beautiful voice in his youth and it's lovely to hear him sing this.

It's, indeed, the worst version of this song that I've ever did hear.
