Was just watching this and I noticed when Kate is leaving New Bedford to head out to the island, Bill says it is about 2 hours to the island. Then they show them with the sun near the horizon which would establish sunrise. Yet when Kate gets to the island, it's dark! Being that the picture is established as being in Massachusetts, the sun never sets in the Atlantic. Someone wasn't thinking while filming the picture on the California coastline.

Also during the scene, Bill has a pipe in his mouth, the camera cuts to another angle, and the pipe has disappeared!

This is one of the reasons that I thought "The Island" is supposed to be Martha's Vineyard.

In the movie Jaws which is supposed to take place on fictional Amity Island off the coast of Massachusetts we also see the sun setting over the Atlantic.

I'd say that in at least one every five movies I watch have some really weird continuity issues re: sunlight. Suddently it's night when two minutes ago it was light.
Given that this is an island and nobody knows exactly where, I would not be too worried about this one.

But we do know exactly where. The map at the beginning of the movie points right to it. It couldn't be more clear than that!
