People who think this movie is racist....

should watch DW Griffith's Birth of a Nation. That movie features blacks acting like buffoons and sexual predators and portrays them as power-hungry, uncivilized "negroes" who want to overrun the country. There is a scene in the film that shows the House of Representatives being overrun with blacks who are portrayed as uneducated and ill-mannered. They drink alcohol, eat chicken (another African-American stereotype), and take off their shoes in the building. To top it all off, many of the blacks in this film aren't really black, but are white people in blackface.

Let us compare this to Song of the South, which has all authentic African-American actors/actresses. No one acts like a buffoon or is portrayed as a sexual predator. Everyone seems to have their dignity in the film.

I always knew Soul Plane was a remake of something!

Kidding aside, I agree. Sure this film isn't 100% politically correct, but compared to other stuff of the time, there hardly isn't anything to complain about, even by animated/family film standards.

What do you think of Warner Brothers' Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarves?

I'm sorry Mr. Lime, but in my opinion, cuckoo clocks are badass.

Both BOAN and SOTS are offensively racist. Unfortunately BOAN had many cinematic innovations that filmmakers use to this day, but it's just as offensive as SOTS.

obie i respectfully disagree your statement. SOTS has an old man (just so happens to be black) teaching kids life lessons based on the tales of a rabbit. BOAN has white people black faced trying to rape white women with KKK look alikes saving the day. just as offensive? i'm disagree
