Reminiscent of Chandler?

This is a really delightful noir - with a plot that keeps snaking along through a rich cast of characters who deliver snappy movie "repartee" in a frequently completely conscious way.

I kept thinking as I watched it that it was very close to Raymond Chandler's better stuff - almost a homage to him. Not to specifics, but to the mode of story and of telling. Anyone else feel this?

Yes -- Especially the dialogue, which was delicious, and reminds me a little of the feel of 'The Brasher Doubloon', which also has words strung together like Christmas tree lights, AND Nancy Guild.

Baby, I don't care!

Yes – though admittedly not as good as Chandler. But some specifics: the Los Angeles backdrop, sleazy characters, the quest, voiceover, and sleuth-like main character. The somewhat clunky, episodic plot also recalls Chandler's circuitous story lines.
