Agree/Disagree??

"I promise you, before I die I'll surely come to your doorstep"

reply

You couldn't have said it better!

reply

You forgot Heathcliff and Mr. Darcy.

reply

Nah- Darcy is far too well-adjusted to be put into the same ring as Nicholas. It's just that there's a huge overlap between people who like repressed Austen heroes and people who like brooding/controlling men who aggravate/torment heroines.

In my head, the sanity/fantasy continuum goes:

Edward Ferrars>John Thornton/Darcy>Mr Rochester>Prof Higgins>Max de Winter>Nicholas>Heathcliff>Phantom>>>>Man in Grey>>>>>>>>[and for the really warped]Hannibal Lecter...

reply

You're probably right about Darcy and Nicholas. But, your continuum overlooks two important differences - the first examples are sexy and handsome (Lord Rohan is beyond gorgeous); Hannibal? Not so much.

reply

The irony was clearly lost in transit... ;-)

reply

Both ways....

reply

hahaha touche ;-)
