I guess to date no one has had any impressions. Well, I have a few. I recorded this movie to DVR back in July 2015 but I finally got around to watching it today; so many movies, so little time.

Here are my thoughts:

1. It always grosses me out to see, usually in movies, how people blow their noses on someone else's handkerchief then promptly return it to them or put it right back into the owner's pocket; ewwww. Chris encouraged Penny to blow her nose into his handkerchief but why wouldn't she take it and have it laundered before giving it back?

2. Keeping secrets is seldom a good idea. I understand the children were young when their father killed himself but they could have talked to them in age appropriate ways. Those conversations should have continued as they got older. As Chase said, he was old enough to read the papers so he knew but no one was there for him to talk to about it.

Also, Penny always had the impression Lee didn't care for her because she was so busy working she wasn't around much. Had she been told why Lee had to work so hard she might have understood and probably wouldn't have been such a mentally disturbed child.

3. Some people have a serious problem understanding relationships. If someone shows the least bit of interest in them they read more into it than what's really there. Penny thought she was 'in love' with Chris because she hadn't worked out her feelings about her father and hadn't dealt with his death. That's how a lot of doomed relationships start. People mistake other emotions for love and jump into a situation that's all wrong. In my opinion, that explains all the perverted and dysfunctional kinds of relationships out there.

4. Suicide is one of the most selfish things someone can do. I understand that sometimes people are in pain and don't feel they can go on but as the saying goes, they choose a permanent solution for a temporary problem. They take the easy way out; they get to avoid whatever problems they were facing but there's no regard for the people who they leave behind. Those people will have to deal with all of the problems that person left behind along with the additional new problems surrounding that person's death.

5. People who need help should get it but taking one's problems out on others is never a solution to anything.

6. Being sick does not give one a pass for bad behavior. Penny was coddled way too much. Instead of helping her it held her back. It started with her dad, who, besides being a depressed drunken thief, was also a really bad father and husband.

I was in my forties before I found out that my grandfather had committed suicide. In those days parents didn't tell children those things. Apparently my father who was getting on told my husband is passing like it was no big deal. My husband then asked me about it and that was the first I had ever heard if it. I was quite shocked.

You called for a handkerchief? You can have the one Penny blew her nose into earlier.
