scary as hell

Guess we don't need dismemberment & mutilation to create a good scare. Use of vivid music score, & imagery of one of the most ominous cartoon animals in disney history is more than enough to raise one's hair. This feature was what got me interested in wolves when I saw it at age 6. Since I was in the habit of assuming that cartoons downplayed seriousnes, I took away from it the impression that the snapping snarling big bad wolf was the meanest animal ever created. Imagine the let-down when I 1st saw wolves in a zoo. Compared to what PATW led me to expect, they were almost boring. A bunch of dogs w/ medium length hair & bushy tails pacing back & forth in the enclosure. It was later a let-down to learn that wolves were very scared of people & that there were no documented cases of wolves attacking humans.

I was later to learn that the "no documented" disclaimer was becoming more & more duck-taped w/ qualifiers, that the wolf was not the one animal that never attacked people, just one of several that rarely does.
