RIP: Actress Paulette Laurent dies at 93

WILLIAMSBURG - Paulette Moyce of Williamsburg, VA passed away at home with loved ones present, on May 27, 2016 at the age of 93. Born Raymonde Henriette Doreé, December 8, 1922, in Moirans, France, near Grenoble in the French Alps, she was one of a few from her large family to survive WWII, despite aiding the French resistance in German occupied France. After the war, she sang with big bands, performing in many well- known clubs of Paris. She went on to act and sing in many stage productions and eventually made it to the big screen under the stage name Paulette Laurent. Her best known movie was the 1949 "Les Vagabonds du Rêve," in which she played the singer "Claudine" as supporting actress. She met the love of her life, Lt. Cdr. Murray Moyce while he was stationed in France. They married on December 18, 1951 in Nice, France, honeymooned in Venice, Italy and celebrated their 62nd anniversary in Williamsburg before Murray's passing in 2014; lovebirds to the end. With great pride, she gave birth to Barbara in 1953 and later became a U.S. citizen. She is remembered for her French cuisine, glamour, spunky loving personality, generosity, and tireless care at home of Murray in his last years with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Moyce, son-in-law Bradford McGann, grandson Matthew McGann, sister Jeanine Guillet, sister-in-law Jean Moyce, nieces Deborah Godfrey, Yvonne Moyce, Cheri Everett, Martine Galiano, grandniece Karen Bonnard Galiano, and other extended family members. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 10, at 11:00am at Olive Branch Christian Church, 7643 Richmond Rd., Williamsburg, followed by a brief graveside ceremony at the church cemetery and reception in the social hall. Paulette's favorite flowers were red roses, carnations, and baby's breath. Memorial donations may be made to Olive Branch Christian Church Gift Fund.
