Daphne Campbell

I have been wondering what happened to Daphne Campbell. Her IMDB entry says that she was a 20-year old army nurse when she was cast in "The Overlanders" and that this was her only film. I thought she was absolutely gorgeous and an excellent actress as well. She also demonstrated outstanding horseback riding ability in this film. After the movie was completed, did Daphne go back to nursing in the army, and why didn't she do any more acting? I have always considered this one of the best movies made about WWII and think that the cattle stampede sequence is every bit as good as the one in "Red River."

There's an article about her on this site:

A plus for this film was that they included females in the cast and resisted the urge to go for an "all bloke" line-up for the cattle drive. I agree that she certainly appeared to be a fine horse woman.🐭

An interesting article about the making of the film is to be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Overlanders_(film).

It seems that Daphne Campbell met, and married, someone from Alice Springs while on location there for this film. She had offers to pursue other acting work but declined preferring to continue as wife and mother.
