Great bird flight to Nick's feet.

How in the world did they get those pigeons to fly from the roof of one of the Mission San Juan Capistrano's buildings and then land in the courtyard right where Nick and Gladys are about to enter the shot? This is one of the most effective scenes I have ever run across and I have been trying to figure out how it was done.

I noticed that too, Bill. My husband, watching with me, said "Wow, those birds really listened to the director!" Beautiful.
(It must have had something to do with bird food.)

Heh heh. They flew off on cue as well.

Wow, amazing - a pidgeon flying to food - you don't see that everday.

Instead of being a smart-aleck, you should watch the movie. None of the birds were eating.

You're right - I was reading these threads prior to watching the movie (which came on TCM last night). I assumed the obvious, and apologize you were so offended by something that doesn't really matter. Anyway, I got up to pee and missed the bird scene - serves me right. If you'd like, I could forward any further replies for your approval before I post them.
