Begin the Beguine

In the movie who sang the song?

reply

Ginny Simms, a popular band singer at that time who appeared in a few movies during the '40s, sang it one portion of the film.

Carlos Ramirez was the male singer according to IMDB credits.

Also, WTH does the term mean? I.E, what is a Beguine? And how does one begin it?

It's a spirited ballroom dance with a certain kind of sensual rhythm.

Who was that gorgeous dancer, the woman, who danced in this scene, in green?

reply

I'm guessing Milada Miadova.

Wow! I videotaped the film from the TCM broadcast and even with the crappy quality I noticed something fascinating about the dancer dressed in green who followed Carlos around for a bit: She had her high beams on maximally!!! 😜 😍
