Delightful Hidden Gem

Errol Flynn was absolutely charming in this comic turn, especially in his scenes with the brawny Forrest Tucker, being Santa Claus, & trying to be 'tough' like Bogart. And Patti Brady was also a little charmer as his young daughter. Eleanor Parker was lovely & elegant, as usual. Actresses today just don't have that kind of class! And S.Z. Sakall & Hattie McDaniel always added to anything they were in.

This should be shown on TCM if it already isn't. And if it is, it should be shown more often.

Being an Errol Flynn collector myself,I would have to say that this is one of my favorites. It shows his ability to be serious as well as funny.Over the years I have transferred my VHS collection to DVD's and are a treasure to enjoy from time to time.Indeed Errol and Forest Tucker do seem to show forth as a good comedy team that probably was meant to be."Bottom line" a movie that
brings a good feeling of 2 parents trying to rekindle their true feelings for each other with a child to help.Too bad many marriages do not rekindle as such but of course this is the real world in which we live.

And so few married couples are as attractive as Errol Flynn & Eleanor Parker.

She's still living, too. I wonder what she looks like today.

The last time I saw Ms. Powell on screen was in an episode of "Murder She Wrote" back in the 80's...Let's just say that decades of chain smoking had finally caught up with her looks and voice. But she's still alive. Just turned 88 on June 26th!

I love this funny little movie and try to watch it at Christmastime when it comes on TCM. Flynn and Powell were just so beautiful to look at when it was made.

You have your names mixed up. This movie starred Eleanor Parker not Powell.

Just discovered this film on TCM the other day - thank goodness for TCM! I really enjoyed it - it is such a gem of a film! I don't think i've ever seen Errol Flynn in a full on comedy before - it was a nice change to see that side of him :)
But yes, a real sweet film - i loved that line about why she chose Fenwick as her penpal "with a name like that he was bound to be the lonesomest" lol.

~No, but if we did we'd probably deep fry them!

Too bad they didn't pair Flynn and Parker in more films. Funny comic pair.

It is very good movie.

Have to say I found the plot a little lacking but I enjoyed the good performances of Errol Flynn, Eleanor Parker, Lucille Watson, Hattie McDaniel, and S. Z. Sakall.
