My Darling Clementine vs Tombstone

I was shocked this had a voter rating as high as Tombstone. Tombstone had way better actors in the roles and everything else going for it. Tombstone was better in every way. Tombstone was way more accurate, had Kurt Russell, who was a 10 times better Wyatt Earp, and Val Kilmer, who was 100 times better as Doc Holliday. I thought every actor in Tombstone was better in all of the roles, but the actors playing Earp and especially Holliday really stood out. I also want to say that Clementine is dull in comparison to Tombstone. Tombstone is way more exciting and engrossing. I've seen many movies on this. I own Tombstone and many other movies made on this subject and these people. I've seen Tombstone many times. I saw Clementine once and never had any interest to see it again.

Mercury4, I agree with you completely. My Darling Clementine is a laughable example of poor historical storytelling. Clementine Who? Earp was married at this time. Doc Holliday was a dentist, not a surgeon. The list goes on and on. If this was a film made by anyone but John Ford, it would get an IMDb rating of 2. All the John Ford fanboys are propping it up. Tombstone is superior in every way, from the casting, to the screenplay, to the Direction.

Clementine was NOT meant to be a historical account!

What a delusional statement. Historical accuracy only counts for two things: Jack and Sh#t.

I think Tombstone is a mediocre movie and a poorly-written Western. It's bloated action cheese from the 1990s.

My Darling Clementine is a timeless American poem from one of the great directors.

And who cares about factual inaccuracies? If you're watching a movie to learn about history, you're doing it wrong.

Thanks, communicator-1. I agree with everything you said.

Perfect description and don't forget the added Kurt Russell schmaltz. But it's still a fun movie to watch.

Kilmer was surely a better Doc Holliday in one of the greatest performances of his career, but Kurt Russel who?
