Disappointed

Somebody from the imdb message boards recommended this film to me a while ago and I finally watched it today, but don't understand why it got such a high rating?
Compared with real gems like "Leave her to Heaven", "My name is Julia Ross", "The Two Mrs. Carrolls", "Dark Passage" or "Conflict" this was pretty boring.
All the time I was waiting for something unusual to happen, but it was rather predictable.
Not my cup of tea :(.
