Influence on 'Sweet and Lowdown'

I noticed a similarity between Jack's persona and Sean Penn's character from 'Sweet and Lowdown'. They even look alike. Knowing that Woody Allen is a big Bergman fan, I thought it couldn't be a coincidence. Anyone else notice that?
