I didn't get why Reardon cared so much about finding out who killed The Swede. He was murdered by one of his accomplices, so what?

he did get a bit too involved for an insurance matter.

I didn't really care who killed him, so I don't know why he did.

it's just a mob killing. it would have made more sense if he was a cop.
