Steve Martin

Is the Steve Martin character real? Was there really a Steve Martin in Jolson's life?

Read the User Review/comment: "The most enthralling musical biography of all time", from 2000--it gives information about that, how he was probably a composite of several people.

Steve martin was a real person - sort of - although some facts were changed about him in the film.

His real name was Joe Palmer and he was wheelchair-bound.

He recruited Asa (Al) and his brother Hirsch (Harry) to form a three-man vaudeville comedy act.

Not sure what happened to Harry and joe when Al went and joined the minstrel show.

I'll trade with anyone who has a jaccuzzi!!!!

I had to do a double-take whenever the names Steve Martin and Ann Murray were mentioned. It's purely coincidence because these were both common first and last names, but you don't often hear double coincidences like that in the same film.
