The clothes they are wearing in this film are fantastic!

I never saw a movie where the actors, young and older, look so chic and handsome. Evelyn Keyes is absolutely gorgeous. Parks is wearing a gorgeous burgundy colored turtle neck sweater and a navy blazer. The mother and father are dressed to the nines (what ever that means). They all look better than people do nowadays !!!!

Not surprising...we had class then, until the likes of Brando and Dean came along dressed in tshirts and dirty levi's took hold by their movies.

There are still beautiful clothes in unrealistic movies but they would be inappropriate in the sort of movies Brando and Dean did. You have to fit the costumes to the genre.

And some people still do have class, as some did back then. It would be a mistake to equate class with the way one dresses. Classiness is how one thinks, speaks, and acts. Fred Astaire could dress as a tramp in We're a Couple of Swells and nobody would think worse of him, although it was an aspect of the plot of Easter Parade that when the maid reported back to Ann Miller about the act it was told as if he had hit the skids with Judy Garland. It is a mistake to judge the person by the clothes. :)

Jean Louis was one of Hollywood's most chic designers.

He later married clotheshorse Loretta Young, and he also designed the famous dress Marily Monroe wore singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President." It sold for a record-breaking sum recently at auction.

I only caught the last hour or so of the film last night, but I was thinking the same thing about the wardrobe. Even Willian Demarest looked like a clotheshorse!
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"
