Couldn't Stand Spud!

It really irritated me that Dorothy Malone's character is portrayed as the sane one, the voice of reason with her sanctimonious monologue at the end of this movie. Janie had PLENTY of reasons to be upset with her ass of a husband and Spud.

This woman comes to town and kisses her old pal full on the mouth at his office, goes out dancing and clubbing with him, accepts his offer to stay in his home with him and his wife, makes breakfast in her dressing gown in Janie's kitchen...she's no innocent do-gooder. Yet Janie is made to feel guilty, as though she is somehow wrong and not understanding of her husband.

I wish Janie would have grown a backbone and kicked Spud out of her house.
