I'm 53 and watching this Christmas 2016. I have seen this numerous times as a kid and a few more times over the years but don't remember seeing an older Alfalfa. Guess I could have but forgot. Carl Switzer was a hunting guide for James Stewart. I wonder if Stewart got him the small part as the guy who opens the pool up.
I didn't know Switzer was killed so young also only being 31. He would be 18-19 in this movie.
I was thinking he died at age 21. Guess it's been too long since I've read about him... Still sad though.
