Helen Talbot in bit part

Contract actresses were requireed to pose for numerous publicity shots, advertising and promotion. They were quite often shown in swimwear, athletic clothing or fashion shots of the Forties. Helen Talbot had been a Goldwyn Girl in "Up in Arms" before signing with Republic. She had also worked with Don Loper, well known women's fashion designer. At Republic, she worked in primarily westerns and serials. Her second serial, "King of the Forest Rangers," was publicized with photos taken on the set with her, Spence Bennett(the serial's director), cameraman Bud Thackery and Frank Borzage, the director of "I've Always Loved You." Captions for the photos indicate that Ms. Talbot's next picture would be "I've Always Loved You." However, IMDB lists her in a bit part, which is uncredited. This was very common for Republic as they wanted to use a contract player as much as possible before the contract ran out. However, Catherine McCloud was the main actress for the film and it would seem logical that she would be photographed with Borzage, rather than a contract actress. In any case, "I've Always Loved You," was the last film Ms. Talbot made for Republic.
