Perhaps...

If you combined the best aspects of "The Brute Man" and "House of Horrors" they could have made a singular good film. Still, I do like the match up of Rondo and Martin Kosleck, as well as Rondo with Jane Adams from the other film.
I'm only a recent discoverer of Kosleck and Adams. That's one of the great things of films (or TV)...you can always discover and learn of more talented performers with each new viewing experience. I wonder why this film is higher rated by a big sum than "The Brute Man" on IMDb. The other film had a grittier, scarier feel (imho).

On an interesting side note - Robert Lowery who played Batman in the '40's serial in this film with Alan Napier aka 'Alfred' on the '60's "Batman" TV show. I wonder why Lowery or the chap who played Robin in the serial never appeared on the TV show. The show was known for it's cameos and inside jokes. That could have been one of it's grandest perhaps.
