Ginger too old

I've seen this before (some of it) but stopped watching it on tv last night when Basil catches Ginger red-handed NOT stealing his money, and then asks "Are you of age? Are you 21?" And Ginger says, "Yes, I'm 21" hopefully, supposedly as a 14-15 year-old having escaped reform school. Hate to say it -- no, I don't -- but jowly Ginger is looking way over mid teens and the best part of a generation more than 21. Even her claimed age at the time of this film -- 35 -- looks underestimated to me. Some people did do that to prolong their careers, you know. But you had to have the right face and girlish simper, like silent superstars Mary Pickford and Mae Clarke.

Check out 'The Major and the Minor' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035019/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_41

Rogers, at the age of 31 (1942) plays a 12-13 year old girl. By today's standards, it could seem a little creepy. But, if you can absorb yourself in 1942, this is a hysterically funny, well written comedy.

Directed by Billy Wilder. With Ginger Rogers & Ray Milland.

Janet Leigh should have done the part, but in 1946, she was not a big name star.

No way. Ginger may not have looked like a teenager, but too old? No way.
She looked gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Please. Nobody but Ginger could rock a fur bra and short shorts the way she could. Perfect body!
