Part of the TCM Essentials Collection

It was on tonight with an introduction by David Letterman and Alec Baldwin. It's a great movie and I think it holds up wonderfully. The hosts went on and on about how beautiful Rita Hayworth was and I couldn't agree more. Alec Baldwin said she was loveliest actress of all. In this role, in this year, I wholeheartedly agree. When she flipped her hair as she said hello to Johnny, she looked stunning. The story is bizarre but well written. The cinematography and the lighting are striking. I love this movie. The banter between the hosts was funny and informative.

I actually just watched this one a few weeks ago. Good film. In fact, I believe it's the first film with Rita Hayworth I had ever seen.

I thought everyone did a great job from a performance standpoint and Rita of course looks great throughout. She is truly the star. After watching it I remarked that it starred "Rita Hayworth . . . and some dudes," which may be a bit unfair but all eyes are constantly on her.

I know some people have criticized the happy ending as being unrealistic and too cheesy, but I thought it worked. Rita and Johnny finally worked out there issues and found their love for one another. It happens in real life.

Eventually I'll pick up the Criterion Blu-Ray for this one.
