B Movie?!?

I know quite a lot about movies and I would not classify "Gilda" as a B Movie. First of all I was taught a B Movie is an hour or less. The Hoppy's (Hopalong Cassidy) films could be an hour :18 minutes, but they were big Paramount productions. The Hoppy's cost $80-100,000 each. Big
Money! Gilda is an expensive production. The sets, the cast, everything about Gilda is First Rate. Glenn Ford, Rita Hayworth these are not B People. OK, it's noir; I can see that but we should be nipping in the bud this B Movie talk. John

This is far from a big picture, this was an "A" picture. Rita was one of the biggest stars and Columbia's biggest female star in the 1940's, so "Gilda" would not have been classified as a "B" picture.
