Was Gregory Peck hot or WHAT??!!

I just think he is so hot in that movie, even though Lewt was a jerk. I'm afraid I'd have been acting a fool like Pearl, too.

Would you kill someone you love ?(or love someone you hurt ? yikes !)
I can't get that, even after I've read the book. Added to the bad management in the filmmaking, I give the movie 8/10. Otherwise, it's mighty good.
Mr Peck is so much fun watching as he very skillfully plays Dom Juan mixed with El Cid, I would gladly throttle the character for asking so badly to get pumped with lead. Uh, what a heartless waste !

No, I mean I'd have been all gaga over him too.

I can't help but compare this with Peck's other roles and note that this is the only role where he really acted with his whole body. I don't begrudge him his Oscar for To Kill a Mockingbird or the acclaim he got in Roman Holiday and his other classic films but in none that I've seen did he get so fully into the character as he did here. I'd also call Duel in the Sun campier than any other Peck movie, including The Omen and The Boys From Brazil.

reply

Yes he was very hot. i can understand Pearl's physical attraction to him.

reply

Ah, that's what you call being fool, being attracted. I thought you mean getting a murderess.
Contraty to Burke, I love paying taxes and I kiss my men with my eyes wide open, so the only foolish thing I see is pumping a sexy specimen with lead (no spoiler intended), even a criminal. Waste. Bleah.
There are so few sexy specimen my age around me in real life I got sore eyes... That girl really acts like a psychopat in the end. The boy might be contagious :-p

Comes with my territory, sorry :)

I'm not a huge Gregory Peck fan, but in this movie I thought he was one of the most handsome actors I've ever seen.

Of all male stars in the history of the cinema, Gregory Peck is definately in my top 5 for hotness.
Gregory Peck and Gene Kelley...Wow. Where are the men like that nowdays?

reply

The time was different. We have been lucky after the second word war. I always shiver considering the actors working in the 40' used to be kids in the 29 crisis... They got really lucky they could do it. Looking at pictures of the stars in their junior years, they are so thin i turn mushy.

Peck was hot, with a capital H. and I also love the performance of Walton Huston. Everyone was on top of their game in the movie...
