Why don't they release 'Dragonwyck' on DVD in America?

Why don't they release "Dragonwyck" on DVD in the US? And for that matter, everywhere else in the world? Why just Australia? I really want to see this movie, and even Turner Classic Movies (the channel) doesn't seem to be showing it at all! They don't even have a video!
I really want to see this movie since I read the book.

You might want to click the "Ask a Question" button and make sure it will play on a Region 1 (U.S.) player before you buy.

There have been many films I have wanted to see only to discover that they are not available in region 1. I finally solved the problem by purchasing a PAL DVD player. They really aren't that expensive;mine was $60.00. I was then finally able to see Dragonwyck by purchasing a region 4 version from an Australian film distributor.

This film shows up once in a while on the Fox Movie Channel. I made a VHS copy of it last time it was on.

In Europe this movie is also available on dvd

I read recently that the film is being released on DVD as part of a Vincent Price collection set. So it is available if you have the $100+ for the box set.

I recently got in touch with a company out in CA. that has access to all kinds of movies on DVD. It's available but the price was over $100.00 and they prefer to sell to people in the movie industry.
It's out there but not available to the public yet.

I just checked Amazon.com and it's about $60. Then I went to Ebay and got a Region 1 DVD for $12.99 + $3 shipping. And the search for it showed other DVDs available in Ebay Stores.

good question. Fox should bring it out as special edition. Vincente Price performance is great.

It's American release date is Sept 9, 2008 with lots of extra features.

Here's the special features for the Dragonwyck DVD:

- A House of Secrets: Exploring Dragonwyck featurette
- Audio-only Bonus: The 1946 radio adaptation featuring Vincent Price and Gene Tierney
- Isolated music track showcasing Alfred Newman's score
- Multiple still galleries
- Restoration comparison
- Theatrical Trailer

It will be paired with Dr. Renault's Sceret and Chandu the Magician on the Fox Horror Classics: Volume 2 box set, but at $20, you can't go wrong.

I'm definitely going to get the special release in September. I love the features included with these older movies. It's amazing what they're finding in film archives.

I just got Dragonwyck, I have been wanting it for ages. It came in a set of 3 movies, Fox Horror Classics vol. 2. (3 well presented seperate discs, not all crammed onto one, or in one box).It is quite well done and has many extras.

Push the button, Max!

I haven't seen this information in this thread so... "Dragonwyck" is available in a DVD box set called "Fox Horror Classics Collection, Vol. 2" Also included are "Chandu the Magician" and "Dr. Renault's Secret." There are some fun extras, such as the radio version of "Dragonwyck." The box set is listed for $20. But if you go to DVDPriceSearch you will find it cheaper.

I rented it from Netflix, but it's been discontinued by the manufacturer. You can find bootleg copies at www.aghosthouseproduction.com and possibly www.yammeringmagpie.com. I've bought DVD's from both sites and was satisfied with them.
